Inebooks by Genre

Inebooks covers as rich a territory as much as ordinary 'linear' fiction does. The list below lets you peruse our inebooks by genre.

- Adventure
- Humorous
- Detective
- Fantasy
- Childrens
- Classic Fiction

What are inebooks?

Inebooks take you beyond conventional passive reading to a new concept of interactive enjoyment. You become the hero of your favourite books, with a choice of multiple storylines that lead to a variety of different endings.
You are totally in command. If your first decision doesn’t work out, simply choose another until you have the most satisfying answer. You’ll soon become as creative as the authors themselves!
Inebooks are ideal for banishing boredom. Bring them out when you have a crowded commute, a boring meeting, a tedious wait or simply time to fill in.
We regularly add new titles, so why not bookmark this website to keep track of the latest releases?

Take Control of your Reading

Have you ever wanted to take charge of your hero's actions while reading a book? With ordinary novels you don’t have that option. But you do with an inebook. Interactive fiction puts you in the director’s chair as you pick and choose your hero’s struggles, solve puzzles, decipher cryptic messages and search for secret clues.
Inebooks can be reread and replayed over and over giving you a fresh version each time.

Inegames

For the game fans amongst you inebooks has a sister site, inegames. You'll find Adventure, Puzzle and Strategy games to entertain you for hours.

Easy To Use

Inebooks are easy to put down and pick up because they automatically load to the page where you last left off. Portability and platform flexibility are natural features of an inebook. Simply download the platform that suits your needs: Palm OS®, Pocket PC or Windows. After you choose your favorite platform, pick any title that interests you and download a demo version.
All of our books may be previewed before purchasing and are easy to install. Furthermore, new inebooks are regularly added to our inventory.

Intriguing brain teasers from new website

17 Oct 2003

The publishers of inebooks have created a new specialist website: inegames.com containing three popular game categories – Adventure, Puzzles and Strategy.

New titles will be progressively added to each section. Already, Adventure includes the intriguing mystery Hector James and the two highly popular titles in the Mystaris series: The Flame of Illean and The Lord of Blackskull Keep.

Strategy games are currently being developed, while the big news in Puzzles is the release of an ingenious new game called Sliding Flowers. This game presents you with a series of pictures scrambled into 9, 12, 16 or 20 equal parts. The challenge is to re-create the original image. The more pieces in the picture, the more difficult the challenge.

One square in the picture is always blank enabling you to move the pieces around. To move a piece into the blank square, simply tap it with your stylus or mouse. Initially, the blank square is in the top left corner. The game progresses until all the pieces are in the correct places and the blank square is in the bottom right segment.

To see full details – and receive advance information on new releases – it’s a good idea to bookmark inegames.com.

Puss In Boots Nominated for Major Software Award

06 Sept 2003

Puss In Boots, the popular game for kids, has received industry recognition by being nominated for this year’s Pocket PC’s Software Awards. These awards are the result of a five-month process beginning with over 1600 products which are evaluated by 70 expert judges worldwide.

Entries are chosen from Pocket PC’s Encyclopaedia of Software and Accessories. Competition is so keen that only one fourth of software listed in that database makes it through to final judging. Interactive E Books, publisher of Puss in Boots, recognises that this nomination reflects the quality of its products. We look forward to the presentation of the. Best Software Awards on October 22 in Las Vegas

The public and critics have both received Puss In Boots enthusiastically. The consensus is that it is an ideal choice for children as young as two years, as a first step towards sophisticated reading.

Typical reviewer comments: "a very sweet story", "rich in pictures and storyline", "great for kids to read on their own".

Master spies and Heart-stopping excitement!

27 Mar 2003

Inebooks' newest interactive title Hector James takes us back to the era of Bulldog Drummond, Richard Hannay and other devil-may-care adventurers who were so popular before World War II.

The hero, Hector James, is an investigative reporter for the News. As he was formerly a spy for the British Government his is ideally suited to undercover assignments. The tension increases because Hector has only a week to achieve his objective - or else! He needs to be a combination of Sherlock Holmes and Indiana Jones to accomplish his mission.

As a further complication, a reporter from The Times is also chasing the same story, so Hector has to constantly look over his shoulder to avoid losing his scoop. The game is played against meticulously recreated settings of England in late May of 1930. Players share in the suspense and join a spectacular tour of fascinating locations as Hector frantically endeavours to solve the mystery before time runs out at the end of the week.

The Flame of Illean now on Pocket PC

24 Feb 2002

Originally available only for Palm and compatible handhelds, The Flame of Illean is now also offered in a Pocket PC version.

One of the most talked-about interactive games of recent times, this is the first fantasy adventure in the Legends of Mystaris series. It offers you an exciting combination of adventure, challenge and fun as the hero (that's you!) defies monsters, demons and mad gods to find a legendary jewel.

The storyline? It's quite intriguing. Picture yourself left as an orphan outside the Adventurers' Guild, determined to make your mark in the world. Seeking the legendary gemstone called the Flame of Illean, you journey to the remote mountain fastness of Vulkos, braving Fire Demons and the mad cult of the god Obenor in your quest.

The inspiration for this game comes from the adventure gamebooks of the 70s and 80s, but the adventures have been taken to a far higher and more sophisticated level. There are over 1200 pages of text, 130 full colour images and multiple scenarios ranging from the merely challenging to the almost impossible.

One customer (Rosie V) commented:

"Many encounters play out differently depending on what character (girl, boy, ironman) you are playing and what objects you have. I got a little obsessed with this game and could not quit playing it until I won all four scenarios! I had as much fun with this game on the small screen as I did with Myst or Riven on my PC."

A New Perspective On Jekyll & Hyde

15 Dec 2002

Interactive E Books today announced its latest release, Jekyll and Hyde Classic Plus.

Robert Louis Stevenson's classic novel The Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde gave a new phrase to the language. When we refer to a "Jekyll and Hyde" personality, it is instantly understood as someone with a double personality - one good and the other evil.

Ever since it was first published in 1885, the story has been an outstanding success. Apart from sales as a novel, it has been filmed dozens of times in various countries, winning an Academy Award for Fredric March's performance in 1931, as well as giving rise to the memorable catchphrase: "A romantic gentleman by day; a love-mad beast at night" for the 1942 version.

Now, when it seemed the last word had been said about this classic, Interactive E Books has published a new version, which adds significant enjoyment as well as understanding of the story's psychological complexity. Far more than a retelling of the story, Jekyll and Hyde Classic Plus includes a specially compiled interactive quiz, Stevenson's biography and an annotated bibliography of Stevenson's other works.

For those who would like the pleasure of reading this timeless story in a stimulating format complete with new illustrations, as well as those who welcome the chance to analyze the author's structure, this is an exciting new perspective.

07 Aug 2002

Issue 5.3 of Handheld Computing Magazine contains a full page feature on Interactive E Books in the "Killing Time" column. The reviewer Benjamin Sones declared of A Handful of Beans that "...the wry, tongue-in-cheek humour will keep you coming back for more."

When speaking of Heroes of Redmarch: Goblin Bane, he said: "A strong concept and good writing make it the most entertaining inebook".

Benjamin described A Day In The Life as "...even wittier, allowing you to live out the day...in the life of a harried software engineer. There are many choices to make - mostly of the "rock and a hard place" variety. At the end, the game gives you a personality profile based on your choices, so there is plenty of incentive to go back and try again."

Exciting New Advance in Interactive Books & Games

30 Jan 2002

Interactive E Books today announced the launch of inebooks, a new concept in interactive fiction and games. The initial release is for Palm handhelds, with other media to follow. Company director Tim Harper commented: "We are so impressed with this new format that we are offering free downloads so that enthusiasts can experience the difference for themselves."

Because inebooks are interactive, you're in control. You choose what happens and what doesn't! However crowded your commute, boring your meeting, tedious your wait, or simply whenever you want to escape to another world, you will find inebooks a fascinating answer. Why not download a free demo right now?

The first release of inebooks offers an intriguing choice:

A Day In The Life starts like a normal working day. However, it doesn't take long to discover that a simple decision like getting dressed or going to the loo can lead to extraordinary consequences.

In Sherlock Holmes: Three Cases you play the part of the great detective by solving three fiendishly clever crimes. Can you sift through the fishy clues from the red herrings?

Heroes of Redmarch: Goblin Bane plunges you into the fantasy world of Redmarch, where Thomas Havelock faces awesome odds to prove himself the legend known as the Goblin Bane.

A Handful of Beans is based on the story of Jack and the Beanstalk, but has many different twists and over 100 specially commissioned illustrations. Jack goes to the market to sell a cow and ends up battling a giant, rescuing a princess and freeing prisoners. Or does he? The decision is yours.

This is just the beginning. Watch for more titles from Interactive E Books throughout 2002.
